A mellow game
I play lots of different games, sometimes they are action packed or horror games, but sometimes I like mellow games. Fall of Porcupine looked a game just like that and I wanted to try it out. It wasn’t just the nice art style that affected me, but the gameplay as well, that reminded me lot of Night In The Woods -game. That game was good and I did play it, enjoying it very much. So, how is Fall of Porcupine overall? Let’s find out.

Story of the healthcare workers
Fall of Porcupine tells a story of Finley, a junior doctor, who works every day in St. Ursula Hospital in town of Porcupine. He moved from the city to country side to finish his training as an internist. He has a tough boss who expects him to do a good job every single day. It doesn’t take long when he works overtime in stressing environment that takes a toll on him. Finley began to doubt himself, his profession and its meaning.
The story in Fall of Porcupine was focused on healthcare—not just it patients—but its workers and their lifes. How their personal life can affect the job and vice versa. I like how the story was written and presented as a whole. It tackled difficult questions and was thought-provoking even.

Gameplay, controls and visuals
The gameplay in Fall of Porcupine was rather simple, but it had its challenges at times. The gameplay was centered in walking around the town, talking people and, of course, working in the hospital. In the hospital, Finley work as an internist, so I had to take care of my patiences and that showed as minigames. In the beginning they were rather easy to do, but they got difficult each and every shift. In the end of each shift I got a grade from my boss and first I got straight As, but then they began to drop. I liked how the minigames were designed and how new and different they felt. There was also some platforming, but it was so little that I wouldn’t call this game a platforming by any means.
The controls in Fall of Porcupine were simple and straightforward. The game was 2D and it was easy to control the character. Even in the minigames the controls were kept simple and easy to understand.
I’m somewhat visual person and I liked how the game looked. Everything looked like they were drawn and all the colours were harmonising. The character design was also nice.

Final grades
Fall of Porcupine was rather interesting title to play. The gameplay was kept simple, but yet intriguing enough. The story tackles questions that we ponder now in real life.
