A long waited game

I’m a huge fan of Life Is Strange -series. I don’t think they are just video games, but fully realized concepts of humanity and what it means to be a human with superpowers. In the first game the main character had a superpower of rewind time and change happenings, it also changed so many other things and unbalanced the whole balance on nature, bringing chaos. Life Is Strange: True Colors’s main character have also a superpower, this time to feel and affect other people’s emotions.

A superwoman

The main character Alex are old enough to leave the foster care and goes after his brother who lives in peaceful town Haven. They haven’t seen each other for years. Everything goes wrong when Alex’s brother dies in an accident that could’ve been avoided. That’s when her superpower of feeling other’s emotions comes in handy, as she tried to uncover why he was killed.

Gameplay, story, graphics

The gameplay is rather simple in True Colors and the main thing is to interact with other people and use your power. That’s also when all the most important decisions comes that’ll have long and unchangeable consequences and in the end of the game it all ravels into one. Everything you do and don’t do in Haven have consequences. For example, I didn’t interact with everyone and in the end I had to pay for that.

What makes the gameplay easier is the fact that this time the game are released as whole and not episodically in every three (or so) months. It was much easier to play and remember all the interactions and characters this time. That episodically released previous games was my biggest problem with the games, because it was so hard to remember all the decision I’ve made previously.

Story-wise the plot was good, even though I could tell many events beforehand. True Colors is very much re-playable, trying to get your best ending. I got my ending as I wanted for the first time around.

Graphically the game looks nice. It have much updated look compared to the other games of the saga.

The verdict

Life Is Strange: True Colors is yet another good Life Is Strange game. What is the best part is the fact the game is released as whole. The game is approx. 8 hours long and it is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Stadia and Windows.
